Welcome

I am Ronald R. Coia, a member of Local Union 1033 and your Business Manager. Like many of you, I grew up in Rhode Island. Today, I am raising my family here. That is why representing the members of Local 1033 is so important to me.

Our members are the people who keep this great state and our local municipalities operational. Local 1033 members plow our streets, maintain our roads and bridges, answer your calls to 911, assist our teachers and take care of our children’s safety on school buses and as they walk to school. You know them as your neighbors and friends: school and municipal secretaries, paraprofessionals, teacher and library assistants, as well as police and fire dispatchers. Our members are the glue that bind us together as a community.

As members of Local 1033, these hard-working women and men come together so they can have a voice at work. They negotiate a contract with their employer for things like a fair and safe workplace, better wages, a secure retirement and family-friendly policies such as paid sick leave and scheduling hours. They have a voice in how their jobs get done, creating a more stable, productive workforce that provides better public service.

In solidarity,
